WebP or JPG?
WebP is a modern format that makes images smaller than JPG at similar quality, which is why websites use it. All current major browsers can display WebP, but some photo editors, older software, printing services and upload forms still only accept JPG or PNG.
Converting to JPG gives you a file that works almost everywhere. Expect it to be somewhat larger than the WebP, because JPG compresses less efficiently.
Frequently asked questions
Is this WebP to JPG converter free?
Yes. It's free, with no sign-up, no watermarks and no limit on how many images you convert.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The WebP image is converted in your browser, on your device. It is never uploaded.
Why are images I save from websites in WebP format?
Many websites use WebP because the files are smaller and load faster. When you save an image from such a site, you get the WebP file, which some apps and upload forms don't accept.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white by default. You can choose black or a custom colour before converting. Images without transparency are unaffected.
Can I convert animated WebP images?
JPG is a still-image format, so an animated WebP is converted into a single still image.
Will I lose quality?
The JPG is saved at high quality (92 out of 100), so it looks very close to the original. As with any conversion to JPG, a small amount of detail is lost.
Is there a file size limit?
You can convert WebP images up to 50 MB and up to 100 megapixels.
